First post...Changing Philosophies

Hello, all and welcome to the very first TucsonTied blog! If you're wondering what all this is about, well, lemme try to clue ya in a bit...

You can call me "Tony" (as opposed to "late for dinner", which makes me cranky as I'm NEVER late), and I'm the website photographer/producer for the website
www.tucsontied.com. Yes, dears...it is indeed a BONDAGE website, so if this offends you, please exercise your power over me and simply click out of this blog. I'm not here to force my will of loving bondage upon you, or try to turn you to my supposed "dark ways"...I'm just a guy having loads of fun with like-minded people, expressing his thoughts here at Blogger. If you don't like that...nobody's forcing you to read this...simply move on and let the folks who DO want to read this do so.

With the disclaimers out of the way, let me begin to ramble. One of my best friends at this gig has labelled me "Tolstoy", simply because I can get long winded as hell...and I'm gonna do just that now.

Let's see...started the bondage gig about 2 1/2 years ago, my site's been up a little more than 2 years. The career officially began (in my mind) at FetishCon 2006. FetishCon is an annual event where photographers and models of all fetish genre's meet up to...well, meet...lol. That's the best way for me to describe it...models meet producers for pic taking, producers get to meet and work with models, and the fans get to meet both sets of people. I'm generalizing WAY too much here...and since this is gonna be long enough talking about just MY crap (lol), follow the link and learn more if you're interested: http://www.fetishcon.com/ And if you are interested in the genre of fetish, PLEASE go to at least one of these...it'll be more than worth your while and you will have the vacation of your life!

After going to FetishCon 2006, I found a host for all my pretty little pictures and formally began the career...with no real focus. Sure, I was the really nice dude that all the models adore and love to shoot with, but as to the site itself...well, I'm coming to realize that I had no real focus in the work...just pretty women bound and gagged for the camera in alluring poses and such. Oh, and let's not forget to mention that I was also that guy using the colored ropes...lol. Still not a lot of producers use colored rope in their shoots (reasons below), and I do still love the use of color in the work, BUT....it's time for some changes all around. I actually like the word "TWEAKS" better as I think I have all the basics down, but now it's time to just add and subtract a few things here and there to make the overall product all the better. Let's address the colored rope issue first:

First, let's see a pic:

Lovely lady, no? That's Pantera, colorfully bound and gagged in pink rope and tape. Since adapting this style of mine (using color in the binding/gagging materials, I mean), there's been two major complaints...let me address them one at a time:

1. "It looks too much like a photoshoot and not like real bondage." True, dat. That IS a valid concern...but it also emulates (in my opinion) the fun that a consenting couple might use to spice up the ol' love life. Generally speaking, it's FUN...and that's something that this little hobby o'mine can be, hence why I use it and will continue to use it. The second concern is why I think some changes are necessary to my philosophy...

2. "No kidnapper would use colored ropes and gags." Again, true, dat. Some of bondage is the drama that ensues when a person or persons is taken captive and held for a time...and tho I want to do some location work at a lot of places and do a series of updates entitled, "The Pink Rope Bandit"...well, if I want my site to have the philosophy I'm rambling towards telling you about (lol), then I need to make some changes in this arena.

I want TucsonTied to emulate two seperate and distinctive styles of bondage: the fun that a consenting couple can have while enjoying it as a lifestyle, and the drama that's there in a kidnapping-type situation not too unlike the last 10 minutes or so of an action/adventure movie or tv show where the lovely damsel sits helpless, awaiting the rescue from her handsome hero...

Conclusion? While the color should stay, I need to lessen my use of it a bit...I'll be cutting back to the use of just pink in future shoots. I've used pink, green, and "grey" (which was a failed dyeing attempt to make black rope...grumble) in the past, but I think I'll just go with the pink for the time being...and sparingly to boot.

Next up...positions. I've been looking at the work lately and, well...I'm a three position pony...lol. Generally speaking, I enjoy the classics:

Chair ties (Pantera, again):

Floor ties (this is Magenta, exclusive to my site):

And the venerable hogtie (Kimberly Marvel here):

I need to mix things up a bit...lol. Haven't been challenging myself with the bondage enough...I need to focus on doing more of the fun stuff...ball ties, lotus ties, frog ties...basically, challenge myself more and not fall back on old favorites so much. Half the journey is in the getting there...it's time to expand the ways of thinking a bit. I already started this one with this wonderful ball-tie on Pantera...

That pic brought in more new members to my Yahoo Group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TucsonTied/) than any other since I launched it...it was obvious you all liked what you saw! Sooooooooo.....more variety in the poses, yah? But what about the ropes...?

One of my buddies at this gig, RopExpert (http://ropexpert.com/) once told me that he was gonna buy me rope for Christmas...mainly because I use so little of it, he thought I needed some...lol. It takes time for a point to sink home with me, but I get it now...I can indeed be too much of a minimalist sometimes...especially when it comes to upper-body ropework. True story: the very first time I worked with Kimberly Marvel, I was just beginning to learn my chest harnessing skills. Soooooo...I placed a rigging on her for this set:

She rolled over on the bed...and the whole damned rigging just FELL off of her. I was never more embarrassed in my life...lmao. Kim took it like a professional tho...picked up my sagging "rigger's ego" and put me back to work...the rest, as they say, is history. Point I'm trying to get at is this...I need to add more rope to my ties...especially on the upper body of my models. It'll make the ties sounder looking and more realistic; which is, I'm sure, what my fans hunger for.

In conclusion...here's the thoughts I've had recently regarding the website:
I want TucsonTied to emulate two distinct styles: consentual, FUN bondage, and the more harsh, "kidnappy" style of "DID" (damsel in distress) bondage as well. Towards that, I'm going to reduce the use of colored ropes and gags in the sets (but still keep the pink...I'm addicted to pink rope on black outfits...lol), get a bit more varying in the ties themselves, and start to use a HELL of a lot more rope (especially on the upper body). There's other avenues to explore as well...what does one use when binding a gal found sleeping in just her underthings? Why, torn bed sheets, naturally! That'll be fun to explore...just another adventure in the wild and wacky world of the passion called BONDAGE.

Stick around for the ride, kids...you might just have fun! ;-)

Woohoo!!! I'm the first to leave a comment!

I like your style, personally. While I will freely admit that your pics dont immediately invoke the "damsel in distress" scenario, they certainly do give the old "love bondage" feeling that Harmony used to and there's a lot less of that in the genre!

I do second the opinion on more rope however

I like the open feel of the blog versus your group, All in one place and you can Tolstoy all you want, just add lots of pics for documentation:) I mean isn't your profession about self gratification? Doing what you love! Let that dictate not the masses!
But I will gladly offer my opinion..... The ball tie was excellent ropework, looked tight and effective. Maybe you need to get some of that fun struggling to get loose captured in your photos! And you might try dying sash cord pink so you can get a more well used pink look.

Love your attitude. Thanks for your work!

Thanks to both of you...glad you enjoyed it! MCH, saying I was envoking the Harmony "love bondage" feeling was the biggest compliment you've ever given me...thank you! That goes in with the whole "consentual" style I was rambling on about...I guess I'm making this thing work! Oh, and more rope is indeed on the horizon!!

Bdtwo: Yah, the profession is indeed about self-gratification and doing what I love. The masses aren't dictating anything...I'm expanding my style because I want to. CrimsonAngel was an expert at the struggling to get loose part...a couple of her sets ended with her peeling the ropes off and removing the gag herself...I always liked doing that. Maybe I should start doing more... Thanks for the suggestion!

Ahhhh....bet you never thought you'd see me engaging in blogs. lol Argggg! But I did enjoy your mild Tolstoy on the subject and it's good you are looking for direction and variety in your site and bondage style. But remember, there's isn't a single position that hasn't been done to death over the years so no matter how different you tie a girl it's been done before.....but not by you. ;) So just as you said the masses shouldn't dictate what you do. If folks like what they see they'll find their way to you eventually. But, IMHO diversity gets attention so balance what you want to what will sell on the website. I've found that to be very true for my sites so I do some clothed, some "fun" stuff, some nude and some very explicit nude with sexual overtones. But the entire package is what makes the sites successful.

Okay, I better stop now before you start calling me Grisham or something! ;)

Very true bud...in all your points...and the fact that you're even here!

Huh...that was a "mild" Tolstoy? Guess I'll have to try harder...;-)
